What did you enjoy most about the course?
The passion and experience of the trainers made this course really special. I really enjoyed testing the knowledge and understanding gained in each module on analysing real world scenarios, many from the experience bank of the trainers themselves.
What is the most useful thing you have learned?
Much better understanding of the impact various design decisions have on building energy loss and occupant comfort, and actually being able to calculate it. I am now looking with very different eyes on seemingly innocuous choices that we all as architects commonly make in the design process. I really wish this stuff was taught at university.
How has this course benefited you?
I have only just qualified, but I feel my design decision making is already quite different than before. It has been great to put it to use in our team's current project which is still at early stages, to make sure that what gets 'baked into' planning can achieve good energy performance, and just generally share this in our practice.
Do you have any tips for future participants?
Be prepared for some intense weeks of learning and book out the time for homework! It is worth it.
