Testimonial - Introduction to THERM

Joe Wood

The course has given me a deeper understanding of the calculation of Thermal Bridges, which I think leads to the better practice of designing out thermal bridges in designs.

THERM Self Study Course 2024

What did you enjoy most about the course?

Learning a new skill and software and understanding thermal bridges on a deeper level

What is the most useful thing you have learned?

Where the calculation of a psi-value comes from - that it is the correction between the actual heat loss through a junction and the more simplistic assumed calculation in SAP or PHPP software based on u-value and length.

How has this course benefited you?

I have recently started a new job that involves me being more engaged in SAP and PHPP analysis of projects. The course has given me a deeper understanding of the calculation of Thermal Bridges, which I think leads to the better practice of designing out thermal bridges in designs. I have already been using the skills I learnt on the course to model heat loss in THERM.

Do you have any tips for future participants?

Don't worry about trying THERM out before you start the course - it is very unintuitive and you will learn much more efficiently with the video guidance.
