This intense three-week course strengthened my understanding of energy-efficient building design. I’m looking forward to applying the principles I learned in future projects and gaining more practical experience.

What did you enjoy most about the course?

I enjoyed revisiting the fundamentals, like back-to-school maths, while learning Passive House principles. I especially liked seeing how different insulation types and materials affect building performance, with each one demonstrated live on video - it really helped me understand how small design choices impact comfort and sustainability

What is the most useful thing you have learned?

The most useful thing I learned was understanding the basic principles of building services and how they can account for a large part of achieving a Passive House, not just the design itself. I’m looking forward to applying these principles in real projects and gaining more practical experience.

How has this course benefited you?

This intense three-week course strengthened my understanding of energy-efficient building design. I’m looking forward to applying the principles I learned in future projects and gaining more practical experience. I plan to deliver a Passive House presentation at my office at the end of my summer placement, sharing what I’ve learned with my colleagues.

Do you have any tips for future participants?

My tip would be not to get hung up on the maths or feel overwhelmed. The exercises and questions are really helpful for understanding the core principles and how they influence a building’s performance.
